Beading it up...
So I am fairly new to this whole blog thing and need to get down in dirty with all of the other details bought me and the hubby, but for my first blog i just wanted to gab about some stuff that makes me :) So yes i have gotten into a few new things lately. Although i would say that i have been a fairly crafty person for the majority if not all of my life there are ALWAYS tons of new ideas for crafts out there. Well i had been a big fan of the whole hemp necklace thing growing up, at girls camp, and with my sisters, etc. but i was and am not a huge fan of the smell of that real hemp stuff. It is nauseating... So i would just settle for the other fake stuff to try and reduce the smell and get the same effect, but for those of you who know it is not the same effect, just really scratchy... anyways i didn't do jewelry for a while after that.... until recently. I love to bead and make necklaces, bracelets and earrings now!! I just kinda experimented with the wire and crimp beads until something semi- normal and wearable was born and i have been a fan ever since.... Although it is a great new hobby it is also an expensive one.. therefore i opted to find a cheaper way, as i usually do with everything( no seriously everything...), and I began ravaging thrift stores for second hand necklaces. Not to wear though but to cut up.. yes i buy those ugly ones that nobody really wants because it could never match with anything... and then i dissect what each bead could look like as a part of something else... then i cut it up and make better, prettier things.. for cheaper. It is AWESOME. Although i wish i could get all of my beads and supplies this way it is not possible, but it sure does cut down on costs. DI has deals sometimes like two necklaces for 50 cents... which is better than the $5-10 you would spend for half the amount of beads at porters:) N E ways after i post more you will soon learn that i do a lot of things this way, take some thing thrifty and turn into something nifty.... :)
